Laser Printers that Take Care of Business

Thinking a laser printer may be what you need to add to your business but you’re not sure how it will benefit you? Is it necessary or will an inkjet do the job just the same? Laser vs Inkjet printer: What’s the difference and which is best suited for you? Let’s explore the technology behind each before reviewing the top Laser printers on the market today.

Laser Printing

The main difference between a laser and an inkjet printer is the medium they use to perform print jobs. Laser printers don't use ink, instead they use toner cartridges. Laser toner is a powdered form of ink that reacts with the parts inside of the printer to lay images and text onto paper. By taking advantage of static electricity (opposites attract), the positive charge of the toner is hit by a laser beam and pulled down onto the negatively charged paper. The electric charge of the paper is then removed and it can pass through the hot rollers which then use heat and pressure to basically melt the toner into the paper. 1

Inkjet Printing

An inkjet printers uses ink cartridges to transfer images and text to paper. Small nozzles or jets inside of the printer spray ink droplets onto the paper as it passes by. To release the ink, the nozzles are heated by electricity causing the ink to form a bubble and expand until it squirts onto the paper. 1
